Whats in a name

Posted by Ryan Woods

Jones loves to name things...or rather, Jess and I love to ask Jones what the names of his toys are. Here are some of his names (keep in mind that these are generally not one time events, Jones is like an elephant he never forgets):

  • Monster: Boob
  • Camel: Dustin
  • Two cartoony street cones: Guy and Booger
  • Stuffed Dog: Eloise
  • Baby in Jess' tummy: Eloise
  • Chris Alexander: Uncle Chris
  • Grandma Woods (my mom): BB
I may be forgetting some, but these are his regulars. He is only just now getting into the name thing. I think we've got some good times ahead of us.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that Jones now primarily calls me, Jess, and his grandparents by their first name. Even when he wakes up from a nap he'll call out "Ryan! Ryan! Come get me"...precious.

i'm going to see if I can get him to start calling me mommy.

ewe... how creepy would THAT be of me....

ps:I'll breast feed the puppet if you want me to...

i'm just saying...

Did you realize how pre-Emo he looks in the pic on this blog? Spikey messy hair: check. Hoodie with big thick stripes: check. I-hate-myself-and-my-life expression: oh, the Emo thing falls apart here. Just watch his music: no Emo or Emo Punk or Emo Pop for him.

I had hoped to get a cool nickname in Jones-ese, but I got something regular like "Uncle." I could have been Booger or Boob or Dustin, but instead I get Uncle....who am I kidding: he's still my best friend!

i remember when i learned that my mom had a name (and it wasn't "mom") . . . and that everyone in my family had a middle name and a last name . . . and that my mom used to have a different last name. this was amazing to me. i just wanted people to repeat their names to me over and over and over . . . i bet i was an annoying kid.

dear ryan,
are you mad at lisa? is that why she is not on your link list anymore? you guys should just be friends.

Oh, thank you for reminding me tt. I was trying to update my list, add some people, remove people who stopped blogging, and change the names of people whose nicknames I gave them no longer made sense. But every time I tried blogger was doing this strange thing where it would change the hyperlinks and stuff. I'll go ahead and give it another go around and see if it works this time.

R1 - sometimes you gross me out.

And I love it!
