Could he be?

Posted by Ryan Woods

Sometimes the best ideas go awry. Sometimes they were originally very bad ideas and you were just very confused about the whole matter.
Here are some examplevatus' (just so you know, anything even remotely connected to my church Renovatus must either start with a "reno" or end in a "vatus", as in Pizzavatus or movievatus or renolatte...you get it?):

#1. So one time at church we thought it was a good idea to have this sign come up on the screen. Oops. Call it reactionary, call it creative, call it stupid. Lets just say that none of those visitors ever came back.

#2. Could He Be The Messiah? Those words were written by Michael W. Smith on his very first album. If you don't know it, don't sweat it. It's terrible. It includes a keyboard. It represents everything terrible in the early Christian music age. Oops. My dad played that song at Renovatus one week...and it wasn't in the form of a joke...oops. Oddly, enough, the visitors did come back that time. Who woulda thought it?

#3. I've got more, but I'm going to go on a walk with my wife. Lets just consider this installment number uno.

Man, I don't know whether to feel embarrised for you or to steal the logo.

Everyone who works in "emerging churches" should check out http://www.landoverbaptist.org/. It is really offensive (but funny) and it shows what non-Christians hear when we aren't careful about what we say.

BTW - they are NOT serious they are making a PARODY of conservative Christianity.

Lost in the crowd, I hear him now, he's praying and he's saying, "God feed them all"
Five-thousand men, al of his friends are worried find bread and hurry
Five loaves and fish, what can he wish, he's praying still he's saying, "God feed them all"

Could he be the messiah?
Miracle man, part of the plan
Could he be the messiah?
Life in his hand,
I understand he could be....

Meet for our needs fully he feeds our hunger older and younger
Twelve baskets more, can we ignore, he shows us that he knows us, is he the Christ?
God in his eyes, I realize his power, need of the hour
Jesus is his name, they say he came to feed us and to receive us, is he the Christ?

It is he the messiah!
Miracle man, part of the plan
It is he the messiah!
Life in his hand
I understand it is he

Could he be the messiah?
Miracle man, part of the plan
Could he be the messiah?
Life in his hand,
I understand he could be....

someday i will renovisit your churchavatus . . . and if michael w smithavatus is playing . . . i will overlook it :)
